Offinso (Ash), Feb 3, GNA - Mr Kings Adu-Boahen, Offinso South Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has predicted that the Party would wrest political power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Elections 2004.
He indicated that the broad masses of the people of the country were disillusioned and disappointed and had lost confidence in the NPP Government and were yearning for the return of the NDC into government. Mr Adu-Boahen, who was addressing an NDC mini-rally at Kokote, a suburb of Offinso on Sunday, said the NPP's vain promises, deceits, and arrogance and incompetence were now known to the electorate and they would judge and decide on the voting day.
He said: "The astronomical increases in school fees, electricity, water, telephone tariffs; cost of health care delivery, transportation fares, corruption and the lack of the basic needs of the ordinary Ghanaian are manifestation of the insensitivity and economic incompetence of the NPP.
"The high rate of youth unemployment and school dropout and indiscipline have resulted in unprecedented armed robbery and all kinds of social vices", he said.
Mr Adu-Boahen noted that Ghanaians were unsafe, insecure and their living condition had retrogressed drastically during the past three years of NPP rule.
He advised the numerous NDC supporters, sympathisers and other disillusioned and disappointed Ghanaians not to despair but rather be calm and remain firm and resolute.
"Knowing very well that their popularity, image and credibility has sank very low, the NPP is doing everything possible to retain political power", Mr Adu-Boahen said.
He advised Ghanaians to be vigilant and vote them out of government for the sake of the future generation and the numerous suffering masses.
