NGO donates items worth 100 million cedis to Begoro School

Begoro, Nov. 6, GNA - An international non-governmental organization, Stitching Afrikaad, based in the Netherlands, has presented seven computers with accessories, 32 pairs of sports canvass shoes and a quantity of educational materials valued 100 million cedis to the staff and pupils of the Begoro Presbyterian Primary "A" School. Presenting the items at a ceremony at Begoro on Wednesday, the Executive Director of Stitching Afrikaad, Mr Aad Vander Munnik, said the donation was prompted by the confidence reposed in their driver, Mr Bismark Kwasi Adjei, who was an old boy of the school.

Mr Munnik said the organization had adopted the school and the Vume Primary School, near Dzodze in the Volta Region and pledged to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the schools.

He said the organisation was already assisting the Begoro Presbyterian Primary "A" in the construction of a block of two classrooms with an office and store worth over six million cedis, which was nearing completion.

He said five more computers would soon be brought to swell up the number to 12 to enable more pupils to gain access to computer training at a time.

Mr Munnik urged the District Director of Education, Mr Stephen Peter-Andoh and the District Pastor of the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Alfred Asamoah, to ensure that electricity was extended to the school to facilitate the immediate operation of the computers. He also urged education authorities to ensure that pupils in the school became computer literate before entering Junior Secondary School form one.

The Headteacher of the school, Miss Christiana Osafo, who received the items expressed gratitude to the donors and expressed the hope that the computers would be well utilized to the benefit of the pupils.
