Markaz-Al-Bishara Child Development Programme, an NGO, with support from the Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC), has held a Christmas party for about 751 pupils from eight schools in the Gushegu Municipality.
The event, held at Kpatinga, brought the pupils together to eat, drink, dance and celebrate as part of activities marking the Christmas festivities.
The beneficiary schools were from Kpisinga, Kutung, Sukaya, Zori, Sampemo, Nayugu, Tindang and Kpahikpaba communities in the Municipality.
Other activities held as part of the Christmas party included; drama on teenage pregnancy, causes and consequences, drama on the importance of education, sack race, egg and spoon race and dance around the chair.
Madam Patricia Gyan-Bassaw, Partner Programme Manager of Markaz-Al-Bishara Child Development Programme, advised the pupils to be wary of fashionable things and avoid bad peer group influence that could affect their education and dreams.
She also urged them to attend school regularly and pay attention in class and ask questions for clarifications to make them good pupils and students.
She called on parents to provide the children with the necessary basic needs to make them attend school and give off their best.
Master Alhassan Baba, a CCFC sponsored child from Tindang community, who is now a National Service person at the Kumbungu District Assembly, expressed appreciation to the organisation for supporting his education from the elementary to tertiary level.
Ms Mahami Latifa, also a CCFC sponsored child, who is now a student at Gushegu Senior High School, thanked CCFC for supporting her education including; providing her with a bicycle, sanitary pads among others to aid her education.
