NGO fetes school children

Twimia (B/A), Jan. 13, GNA - African Assistance Plan, a Sunyani-based NGO has organised a New Year party for 800 children at Twimia in the Techiman Municipality.

The children were selected from surrounding towns and villages including Nkwanta, Koase, Nsonkone, Adiesu and Nkwaeso.

Each of the children after eating and drinking were presented with a specially-designed "T" shirt with the Twi inscription, "Yesu Nti Na Yedi Bronya" in front and "African Assistance Plan Get-together" in English at the back.

The enthusiastic children were also entertained to music. Mrs. Rose Donkor, executive member of the NGO advised the children to learn hard to be able to attain great heights so that they could effectively contribute to the socio-economic development of their communities.

She said the organization, established by her husband, Bishop David Kelly Donkor of New Life World Mission Church, had assisted in the provision of boreholes in some communities in Brong-Ahafo.

The beneficiary communities included Nsuta and Twimia in Techiman Municipality, Dumasua and Atuahenekrom in Sunyani Municipality and Kosan in the Dormaa District.

Mrs. Donkor said the NGO had also provided school uniforms for 50 school children in the Wenchi District and spent 20 million cedis to help school children with eye problems to be treated at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.

Ms. Godbless Mintah, a pupil of the school on behalf of the children thanked the management of the NGO for organizing the get-together for them.
