Bawia (W/R), Nov. 7, GNA - Cooperation for Development of Emerging Countries, an Italian non-government organization (NGO), has handed over a Mechanical Training Centre it constructed in the Jomoro District to the National Youth Council (NYC) at a ceremony at Bawia. Mr Sabio Laurenzi, President of the NGO, said in 1950, the Italians visited Ghana for cultural studies and research during which they established a cordial relationship with the Nzemas hence the construction of the Centre as part of the friendship. He said though the Centre was constructed some eight years ago and ran by the NGO, it was time to hand it over to Council. Paapa Assane, Western Regional Coordinator of the NYC, said this was the 11th institution going to be ran by the Council and the third in the Western Region.

The two others are at Abura in Ahanta and Asankrangwa in the Wassa Amenfi Districts. He said the Centre, known as the Nzema Maanle Mechanical Training Centre, runs courses including Auto Mechanics, Auto Electrical and Auto Repairs/Body Works on vehicles free of charge. Paapa Assane said Carpentry and Joinery, Building Construction and General Electrical would be added to attract more students. 7 Nov. 10
