Sunyani (B/A), July 18, GNA – Mr Prince Charles Kofi Monphy, founder of Monphy and the Youth, an NGO based at Nkoranza in the Brong-Ahafo Region on Friday presented an ambulance and eleven hospital beds to the Regional Hospital in Sunyani.

The items were valued at GHC 25,000.

Making the presentation, Mr. Monphy, a citizen of Nkoranza resident in Japan, said the donation was part of the NGO’s contribution to promoting quality health care delivery in the country.

He explained that the items were made available with the support of other Nkoranza citizens in Japan and Mr Kwame Ampofo Twumasi, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South.

Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang, Regional Director of Health said the hospital as the major referral facility in the region needed adequate modern medical equipment, as well as adequate number of doctors and nurses.

He advised the hospital’s management to take proper care of the items.

Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, Regional Minister, said government alone could not shoulder all the responsibilities to national development and advised all Ghanaians, especially those residents abroad, to come and lend their support.

He entreated the hospital’s management and staff to maintain a cordial relationship with clients whilst the government worked hard to improve their conditions of services.

Dr Jacob Abebrese, Medical Superintendent, who received the items thanked the donor for the items and appealed to other NGOs and philanthropists to emulate Monphy and the Youth.
