The Amanfrom Prison Camp has taken delivery of drugs and used clothing, valued over GH¢5,200.00, a gift from the Gospel Rescue Mission, an NGO engaged in the rehabilitation of drug addicts.

Rev James Nana Ofori-Atta, Head Pastor, the Northern Sector Headquarters of the Action Chapel International, Kumasi, and Founder of the NGO, said it was their contribution towards making life a bit comfortable for the prisoners.

He said as Christians, they are enjoined by their faith to show kindness and love to the needy, poor and the suffering, and it is for this reason that they had set up a centre at Kwamo to counsel and support drug addicts.

Rev Ofori-Atta, said the addicts are also being assisted to learn trades and acquire skills to enable them to earn decent living.

Chief Superintendent Dwira Ampratwum, the Commander of the Prison Camp, said the facility was established in 1991 as part of moves to decongest the Kumasi Central Prison.

It has been training prisoners in livestock farming, crop production and other vocations.

He said the major challenge it faced has to do with lack of maintenance and invited individuals and organizations to help tackle this.

The NGO later feted the prisoners.**
