Tod Teen Republic, a youth focused non-governmental organisation, would organise a Junior Boys Mentoring Conference in November to discuss challenges and issues boys encounter as they approach manhood.

The conference, to be held on November 7, 2015, would gather selected young boys from schools, orphanages and single parent homes who would be exposed to practical life skills such as cooking, tailoring, gardening and home décor.

Mrs Ethel Marfo, the Chief Executive Officer of Tod Teen Republic, said mentoring was no longer a privilege but a necessity for boys to prepare them for the future, adding that healthy families created robust communities that served as the foundation for the advancement of society.

“We will also seek to restore hope in the lives of three fatherless school drop outs, who desire to continue their education annually and also change male stereotyping by ensuring that boys are encouraged to break traditional female fields such as cooking, laundry and other basic household chores to become well rounded men,” she said.

Mrs Ethel said the conference was going to be an annual event including a boot camp starting from next year including quarterly breakfast meetings for the boys in their various communities.

“We hope to constantly be in touch with our boys by forming Junior Boys Clubs in the basic schools where we would be meeting and coaching them in their various schools, which has already started.

“Our ultimate dream is to have a Boys Resource Centre which would be equipped with a library, a cinema, a gym and a cook-yourself-restaurant where our young boys can have full access to mentorship and life coaching,” she said.

Okyeame Kwame, a musician, was selected to be the brand ambassador.
