Winneba, Feb. 9, GNA - Plan Ghana, an NGO based in Accra would spend one billion cedis on health programmes in the Central Region this year to help improve health delivery in the region.
The money would be used to support health programmes, including training of facilitators, national immunisation programme, behavioural changes, communication and adult-friendly clinics, particularly in the Agona, Gomoa and Awutu-Effutu-Senya Districts.
Mrs Berenice Nartey Quao, Health Facilitator of the NGO, disclosed this to newsmen at a two-day performance review conference of health personnel in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya Directorate of Health Services at Winneba.
According to Mrs. Quao, Plan Ghana, last year supplied 1,000 pieces of treated mosquito nets to the Bawjiase Health Centre as part of its effort to help control malaria in the area.
She advised the people to ensure environmental cleanliness to avoid the outbreak of diseases that could be prevented.
The meeting was told that the Senya-Beraku Health Centre recorded 467 cases of intestinal worms, which could be contracted through the eating of faeces contaminated food, due to improper washing of hands before meals.
