The Northern Regional Office of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), has donated a 6.7 KVA KIPOR generator valued at GH¢4,650.00 to the Nyohini Children’s Home in Tamale.
The generator will serve as an alternative source of power for running the facility.
This followed an appeal by Management of the Children’s Home to the NLA for a generator to help preserve its items, including food, during power outages.
Mr Gershon Dzirasa, Northern Regional Sales Manager of NLA, who presented the fuelled generator to the Management of the Children’s Home, said it was in line with NLA’s corporate social responsibility to give back to society.
Mr Dzirasa said children required special care for proper growth, adding that the gesture by NLA was, therefore, to ensure that children under the care of the facility received the best care and comfort.
He assured that NLA would periodically assist with fuelling the generator to aid the operation of the home.
Madam Augustina Quaynor, Supervisor of the Nyohini Children’s Home, who received the item, thanked NLA for the gesture, saying the generator would also help to improve on security at the facility, especially during nights when there was power outage.
Madam Quaynor said the facility currently had 30 children aged from four days old to 18 years.
She said the cost of feeding the children has been increasing, and appealed to all to come to the aid of the children.
