NLA supports rural community in Kpandai

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has presented a cheque for GH¢ 10,000 to the chief and people of the Sunghai Traditional Area in the Kpandai District in support of the development of the area.

The Authority also supported medical screening of the inhabitants of the Lonto community of health problems such as malaria, diabetes, blood pressure and eye screening and also registered the aged and children on the National Health Insurance scheme to able them access healthcare.

Mrs Kesewaah Dolphyne, Corporate Affairs Communications Director of NLA, who presented the cheque to a representative of the chief during the launch of Amakrado Foundation, said the support was in line with NLA's corporate social responsibility.

She commended the chief and people of the area for coming together to launch the Foundation, which is aimed at soliciting support for the development of the area including improvement of education and the provision of social amenities.

Mr Joseph Dasah, Northern Regional Manager of the NLA, gave the assurance that the Authority would continue to partner with the community and other development-oriented leaders in society for development.

He urged the public to patronise the Authority's various lottery games including 'Soccer Cash' for prompt payments.

He said the NLA's motto: "Development Through Games," was a message assuring the public that patronising National Lottery was an investment for the development of the country.

He said the support for the Lonto community was one of several testimonies.

Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, Regional Minister in a speech read on his behalf, commended the chief and people of the area for maintaining peace over the years.

He said the Sungwai Traditional Area is making chieftaincy to assume a development dimension.

He said development is derived in an atmosphere of peace and that the peaceful manner in which Lonto and its surrounding communities exhibit calls for the provision of social amenities and gave the assurance that government would extend the needed development to them.

Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru advised the community against open defecation, which according to him would continue to impact negatively on the health of the people.

Nana Kofi Kwasare II, Amankrado, Chief of Lonto Traditional Area said the establishment of the foundation was to solicit support to development education and the provision of healthcare facilities in the area to improve the living standards of the people.

He thanked the NLA for the partnership support and appealed to other corporate organisations to support the community to develop its people.

He appealed to government to consider constructing the road from Salaga to Lonto and Lonto to Kpandai to ease the transportation challenges.
