The National Lottery Authority (NLA) on Tuesday issued a stern warning to all illegal lotto operators, also known as “Banker to Banker,” to stop their activities or face the full rigours of the law.
“NLA National Task Force against illegal lotto operators is ready to engage in fierce battle with the recalcitrant operators to kick them out soon,” Mr George E. Gyamfi-Osew, Director for Special Projects, NLA, said.
Mr Gyamfi-Osew said this during a meeting with Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Council and his elders at his palace in Techiman.
In a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra, the NLA said it contributed a large portion to the nation’s revenue and as such deserved to be protected from the illegal operators.
Mr Gyamfi-Osew also used the occasion to present a cheque for GH? 5,000.00 and fifty pieces of NLA branded T- shirts to the Omanhene in support of the APOO Festival.
According to him, the NLA over the years had been supporting the APOO Festival celebrated by the people of Techiman.
Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV commended the NLA for promoting the country’s heritage and culture.
He urged the NLA to intensify education on its operations in the country and tasked Ghanaians to patronize the products of the NLA to promote national development.
