NPP Ashanti Regional Council of Elders commend minority's resilience

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Council of Elders has issued a special Christmas message, commending the party's Minority Parliamentary Caucus for their unmatched commitment, resilience, and sterling qualities despite the challenging parliamentary conditions.

The Council, in a press statement jointly signed by Chairperson Mrs. Rosemond Appiah-Menka and Secretary Victor Owusu Jnr and copied to GhanaWeb, also extended an end-of-year message and special counsel to the general populace.

The statement, titled "Christmas Message From The Ashanti Regional Council Of Elders To The Minority NPP Parliamentary Caucus," acknowledged the Minority's difficult position with a numerical strength of 87 against a majority of 189.

Despite this, the Elders praised the caucus for effectively countering the relentless tactics of bullying, frustration and intimidation.

"You have demonstrated unmatched commitment, resilience and sterling qualities in debates that speak to the very soul of our tradition. We have been closely following your endeavours on the floor of Parliament with a lot of enthusiasm," the statement read.

The Council highlighted how the Minority Caucus embodied the core values of the NPP's founding fathers.

They stated that the caucus "stood as guardians of liberty and constitutional order," reflecting the spirit of Danquah.

"Furthermore, their approach of placing the dignity and welfare of our cherished people and population at the heart of every deliberation was seen as grounded in the humanism championed by Busia."

The Elders also lauded the Minority for working to "build bridges, foster unity, and uphold the principle that strength lies in cooperation, even amidst adversity," true to the inclusive vision of Dombo.

"These ideals of liberty, humanism, and unity, are not relics of history; they are living values that you have carried into the parliamentary arena with honour and conviction," the Council affirmed. They concluded this section by extending "special commendation for your dedication and delivery," asserting that the Minority's performance this year has reaffirmed that the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition is not only a heritage but a compass for principled action in challenging times.

Looking ahead, the Council urged the Minority Caucus, "allow the festive season to renew your strength and deepen your resolve." They encouraged them to continue to stand firm, "knowing that your efforts are recognised and deeply appreciated. The path may be steep, but history assures us that truth and perseverance will prevail."

Beyond the parliamentary commendation, it extends a special counsel to the populace by encouraging all citizens to reflect on these tenets for national progress and cohesion as they celebrate the season of peace and goodwill.
