Mon, 5 Jan 2004 Source: GNA

Amakye-Bare (Ash), Jan. 5, GNA - The government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has performed creditably and deserves to be returned to power for another term, Mr Thomas Ofori-Donkor, Atwima-Nwabiagya Constituency Vice-Chairman of the party, has said. He said apart from the peace, stability and individual freedom being enjoyed by the people, the economy was in a far better shape. Besides, there had been tremendous infrastructure development, evidence of which was all over the place in the form of school blocks, good roads and health facilities among others.
Mr Ofori-Donkor who was addressing a meeting with a section of NPP supporters at Amakye-Bare in the constituency also spoke of government's interventions that had made farming more rewarding and attractive, skills training of the unemployed youth and the President's Special Initiatives. He told them to remain focused and ignore what he termed "the ugly noises coming from our political opponents." "It is natural not to expect your political opponents to say anything good or complimentary about you since they are also in there not just for fun but for political power."
The NPP Constituency Vice Chairman asked the party's loyalists to work hard and intensify their efforts to help broaden the party's support base to deal a humiliating blow to the opposition political parties in the coming general polls. Mr Ofori-Donkor called on Ghanaians to adopt positive attitudes that would help to consolidate the country's democracy and good governance. "Let us all accept to be more civil and decent in our conduct and approach to political issues,'' he said.
