Insults were hurled at Ga Chiefs as they issued notice to the organizers of the "Dumsor Must Stop" vigil to observe the ban on drumming and noise making from May 11, to June 11, 2015.
Yesterday, Monday, May 11, New Patriotic Party's 2nd Vice Chairman for Sunyani East Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region, Lawrence Amponsah, also a Tutor at Sunyani Polytechnic and a Member of the party's Communication Team emulated Eugene Antwi's loose talk attitude to insult and malign the Chiefs of Ga Traditional Council.
Ga Chiefs' integrity was questioned by the Vice Chairman of the NPP during a morning show programme dubbed "Sincetete" on a local radio station, Storm fm in Sunyani. He said, "Ga Chiefs have been bias in all their directives"
His colleague panel member of the programme, John Ayaaba cautioned him to refrain from this alien practice which is infiltrating into Ghanaian political discourse. Insults in politics and disrespect for Chiefs have reached an all time high in recent political discussions, a phenomenon that is not Ghanaian. He said this insulting, disgraceful and loose talk attitude has moved from Fantes to Gas
The Host of the programme, Mr. Emmanuel Quarshie (Hitman) explained to him that, the directive of the Ga chiefs is part of the activities that lead to the celebration of the Homowo festival every year so it is not a deliberate move to stop the vigil.
Regardless of the Host's consistent appeal for him to withdraw this unfortunate statement, he was not remorseful because of his political motivations from similar insults to people from the coastal area.
The General Christian Community and Traditional authorities must show concern about this consistent disrespect from Politicians.
