NPP Volta Chairperson fulfills promise of empowering communication and research wings

The Volta Region New Patriotic Chairman, Makafui Woanyah, has presented 18 tablets to constituency research and election officers and 18 mini-tablets to constituency communicators.

This was in fulfilment of a promise he made to the elephant fraternity in the region to equip electoral and research officers and communicators with the requisite tools to enhance the delivery of their mandated duties.

He made the presentation when the officials met with the Regional Executives over the weekend to debrief on activities of the just ended limited voter registration exercise.

Some shortfalls in the gathering and keeping of data during the registration exercise necessitated the provision of the tablets.

Mr Woanyah advised the research officers to put the gadgets to good use by undertaking research and feed the appropriate quarters with their findings for necessary actions to be taken to contribute propel operations of the party and ultimately increase the NPP’s electoral fortunes in the Volta Region.

“Undertake research on various aspects of operations of the party and elections such as demographic composition, voting pattern, topical issue of national importance, constituency targeting and competitor profiling”, he said.

He also urged them to develop frameworks for intelligence works, compile list of investigations which would determine strategies to be mapped out for the various constituencies across the region.

Mr Woanyah added that “you must also compile a list of credible researchers who can be called upon to assist with research and dissemination in the constituencies”.

He implored the communicators not to lose sight of their core mandate of serving as a link between the party, media and the public. Cognizance to this, he opined for the establishment of a public relations and information management team.

“You are the mouthpiece of the NPP in your respective areas, so you must ensure you collect, collate, analyze data and disseminate in clear and understandable language. You must maintain a party library to hold literature, audio and video materials, party memorabilia, paraphernalia and campaign materials,” he said.

Mr Woanyah implored the communicators to also continue to monitor and respond appropriately to any media content or seek the assistance of patriots who have in-depth knowledge on issues beyond their knowledge.

The Volta Regional NPP Secretary, Joseph Homenya, urged the researchers to take into consideration “compiling of good research report targeted at enhancing governance of the country”, while communicators continue “to trumpet the wonderful works that NPP government is doing”

The Regional Reserach and Communication officer, Shabanton Moses Dutsrogbe, expressed gratitude to Mr Woanyah on behalf of his colleagues for the logistic provided and assured of putting the gadgets to good use.

He, however, indicated that officers who would underperform would be sanctioned accordingly.
