Takoradi, March 7, GNA - A three-day capacity building workshop for some 79 executive members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western region opened in Takoradi on Saturday with a call on members to remain loyal to the cause of the party in its bid to strengthen democracy and ensure steady development.

Participants who were selected from the 19 constituencies in the region, would in turn train polling station assistants and educate them on some of the strategies being adopted to enhance the party's victory in the upcoming elections.

Opening the workshop, Mr Dan Botwe, General Secretary of the party, warned that any member of the executive who becomes "an impediment" by a misconduct of oneself would be expelled from the party.

He said the party had evolved strategies that would enhance its objective to win at least 140 seats in this year's elections and added that the success of these strategies would largely depend on the efforts of the constituency executives.

The NPP General Secretary said the party would employ every legal means to consolidate and deepen democracy and ensure the rule of law, because "that is part of our inheritance".

Mr Mac Manu, regional chairman of the party advised supporters and sympathizers of the party to register when the voter's registration exercise opens so that they can vote during the polls.

He said campaign teams were being educated to adopt persuasive messages and conduct assignments in a manner that would ensure peace at all times and urged other political parties to do the same.
