Ho, Feb 25 (Team) GNA- Mr Emmanuel Sunnu, 65 one of the victims in a lorry accident involving supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Akpafu-Todzi in the Hohoe district last Saturday died on arrival at the Volta Regional hospital Ho the same day.
"He was dead before arriving here", Dr Geoffrey Nyamuame, Medical Superintendent in charge of the Hospital told the Ghana News Agency on Monday.
A total of 24 victims, 17 women and seven men including Mr Robert Yakanu 56, driver of the 66-seater Tata bus of the Saint Francis Training College, Hohoe, that was involved in the accident, are still on admission at the hospital.
"We thank God they are all recovering" Miss Margaret Appiah Principal Nursing Officer in charge of ward G3 where 12 victims are on admission told the Ghana News Agency.
Miss Edith Ekpor, Nursing Officer in charge of the Accident Emergency Ward where 12 other victims are on admission said all the victims were responding to treatment.
Mr Yakanu, attributed the accident to brake failure while descending the hill from Akpafu-Todzi compelling him to ran into an embarkment. The victims had accompanied Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo NPP Presidential candidate, who had attended the Iron Ore festival of the Chiefs and people of the Akpafu-Todzi The area of the accident is said to be a black spot. Meanwhile Miss Patricia Azumatse, Principal Nursing Officer of the Hohoe Government Hospital, said 36 other victims including five children are on admission at the hospital. 25 Feb. 08.
