NPP supporter stabbed for allegedly singing Party's song

Tema, Oct. 13, GNA -- Janet Nyarkoah 23, a resident of Kakasunaka No 1, near Tema, last Wednesday narrowly escaped death after she was allegedly stabbed for singing a campaign song of New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The victim, who had a wound at her left abdomen, said the timely intervention of neighbours saved her life when Efo Yao, the alleged assailant stabbed her after they had been separated from a scuffle. Tema Community 22 Police that arrested Yao, has been granted police enquiry bail as investigations into the case continued. Janet told Ghana News Agency (GNA) that she together with three friends, were singing the NPP song "Naa Nana, naa Shwuo" (This is Nana, this is the elephant) when they returned from an NPP rally addressed by NPP Flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. She said when they reached their neighbourhood at about 2030 hours, Yao emerged from a kiosk and scolded them for making noise and disturbing him during which he assaulted Janet during a scuffle attracted people to the scene.

Janet said after they had been separated, Yao emerged behind her with a knife and stabbed her on the left abdomen. A police medical form certified by Dr Martin Dum, of Tema General Hospital confirmed that Janet had been stabbed with a deep wound on the flank.
