The National Service Scheme (NSS) is looking forward to becoming an authority by ending of August pending the final signature from President of the Republic Nana Akufo-Addo.
This came to light when the President and Executive Committee members of Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) paid a courtesy call on the National Service Scheme (NSS) to engage in ways towards enhancing the professional development of surveying students across the country.
The meeting focused on two critical issues: the deployment of GhIS student members from recognized tertiary institutions into suitable training organizations and exploring potential collaborations between the institution and NSS.
The GhIS delegation expressed their enthusiasm on the possibility of placing student members in the surveying profession in training organizations that align with their educational goals and professional aspirations.
“Our aim is to ensure that students gain practical knowledge in the field of surveying, which is essential for their growth and future careers,” President of GhIS, Surv. Dr. Anthony Arko Adjei stated in his remarks.
“By working closely with the NSS, we believe we can facilitate placements that are not only beneficial for the students but also for the organizations that will host them.” Surv. Anthony Arko Adjei added.
In addition to discussing student placements, both parties explored avenues for collaboration that would foster growth between GhIS and the NSS.
GhIS leadership emphasized the importance of a strategic partnership that could lead to mutual benefits, enhancing the quality of training and professional readiness for surveying graduates.
Executive Director of the National Service Scheme Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi welcomed the initiative, recognizing the importance of practical training in shaping competent professionals.
“We are committed to supporting the development of our youth and ensuring they have the necessary skills to thrive in their respective fields,” Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi said.
He added that the Collaboration will pave way for the creation of a more structured approach to training and deployment.
With optimism surrounding the discussions, both organizations are looking forward to formalizing their partnership and implementing strategies that will ensure GhIS student members are well-prepared for their careers in surveying.
As the meeting concluded, the GhIS leadership expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the National Service Scheme and reiterated their commitment to fostering an environment conducive to professional development for all surveying students in Ghana.
This collaboration promises to pave the way for a new generation of skilled surveyors ready to contribute to the nation’s development.
