The National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), has changed to the Ghana Youth Employment Development Agency, (GYEDA).
The change of name takes effect immediately after Parliament approved the law governing the program.
The deputy National Coordinator of the Programme, Murtala Mohammed in an interview with XYZ News said, the new name formed part of measures to restructure the programme.
According to him, the name change is not just for the fun of it but as part of plans to totally overhaul the Youth Employment programme.
Murtala Mohammed added that the new Agency will improve on the payment structure of beneficiaries, come out with an exit plan and will include more modules that will focus on entrepreneurship.**
