Bisease-Enyinasu (C/R), June 9, GNA - Beneficiaries of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), especially those in the education and health sectors, have been urged to work hard to enter into higher institutions for professional certificates in those fields. Mr Peter Light Koomson, District Chief Executive for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam who gave the advice at Enyinasu during the supply of
free exercise books to deprived communities in the District. Answering a question posed by a member of the Parent-Teacher Association about the shortage of teachers in the locality due to the departure of NYEP teachers, Mr Koomson explained that the NYEP beneficiar ies had only two years to serve, after which they had to make way for a new batch. Mr Askoa Mohammed, the Circuit Supervisor for Bisease area, said the
three cluster of schools at Boso, Solomon and Enyinasu currently needed 1 2 teachers and 358 dual and mono desks. Mr Mohammed further stated that one of the major challenges hinderin g the progress of education in the area was the provision of exercise books by parents, adding that with the government's free exercise books scheme, th e academic performance of pupils in the local communities would improve. Mr Wans Asare, head teacher of the school, expressed appreciation to
the government for coming to the aid of the pupils and gave the assurance
that the teachers would do their best to ensure academic progress. Nana Essiam III, Odikro of Enyinasu, expressed appreciation to the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly for providing 30 bags of cement to
support the community in the construction of classrooms for the local Kindergarten and bungalows for teachers. Nana Essiama, however, appealed for more support with emphasis on roofing sheets, nails and cement, adding that the community had made available enough boards towards the provision of doors, windows and for roofing. Mr Isaac Amonoo, District Director of Education, said the District h ad been mandated to collect money in support of the needy children in the wa ke of the Haiti disaster, and appealed to parents to donate generously to li ft the image of the District.
