The Nabdam District Assembly has mobilized Ghc60,521.00 from its internally generated sources constituting 88.22 per cent of a target of Ghc68,500 for the 2014 financial year.
Mrs Vivian Anafo, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Nabdam, made this known in her address delivered at the third ordinary session of the Assembly on Wednesday in Nangodi.
She said the achievement was made possible through the provision of grader services to the public among other activities.
She expressed appreciation for the hard work of the assembly members, staff of assembly and unflinching support of past members of the assembly and hoped that the year 2015 would be an improvement upon this year’s performance.
On status of projects implementation in the district, the DCE said a three-unit classroom block at Tindongo, one semi-detached nurses quarters at Logre and a two- unit teachers quarters at Nangodi had been completed and would soon be handed over.
She said a one bedroom bungalow and a three, two-bedroom semi-detached- quarters at Kongo Senior High School were ongoing at different levels of completion, whilst work on a dug out well for Logre community had started in earnest.
She said the Assembly in 2015 would roll out more programmes and activities to include agriculture, environment, education and health, adding that the assembly would partner other governmental organizations.
She said three sub-projects were in the pipeline for consideration in 2015 by the Ghana Social Opportunities Project and they included 1.5 km rehabilitation of Zua junction to Zua school feeder road, 4.6 km rehabilitation of Dasabligo CHPS compound to Kongo feeder road and 7.275m³ rehabilitation of Kolbeog-solig dug out well.
According to her, twelve roads had been named under the street naming exercise while a second phase was in the pipeline to carry out property numbering.
In her address the DCE commended the finance and administration committee’s work on resolution of fee fixing for 2015, and adoption for approval, the five-year medium development plan by the development planning subcommittee.
Emerging Challenges for discussion by members included high rate of teenage pregnancies among students and indiscriminate mining.
The DCE took the opportunity to urge members to join hands with her to appeal to the youth to refrain from alcoholism and careless riding during the Christmas season.
“We must all behave and conduct ourselves responsibly taking into consideration accidents and teenage pregnancies and beware of the prevalence rates of HIV /AIDs,” she stressed.
