An educational fund to be known as Nana Atta Fosu II Educational Fund had been launched at Piase near Kuntanasi in the Bosumtwe Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region. The educational fund was named after the former Piasehene and Kuntanasi Gyaasehene, Nana Atta Fosu II who passed away three years ago after reigning for over forty years. A seed money of over $1,000.00 which was topped up to an equivalent of 10 million cedis was offered by Mr. Joseph Atta Fosu, popularly known as ?Wofa Akwa? or ?Brother Akwa?, one of the sons of the late Piasehene who lives in New York, USA for the take off of the fund.

In a speech before the launching, Mr. Atta Fosu, who is also a Deacon of Abundant Life Baptist Church, in New York, USA said it had been his vision to honor his father, Nana Atta Fosu II while he was alive with such an educational fund to help the children of Piase who through no fault of theirs are not able to afford going to school. According to him, it was also his vision that no child from Piase is left behind in terms of education. He predicted that with the support that will come out from such a fund, he would not be surprised to have the President of Ghana coming from Piase in the near future. He therefore urged all the children to take their studies serious, saying with the help from their parents and efforts from the teachers they will achieve their objectives in life. He also thanked The Piase Youngsters Association led by Mr. George Gyamfi for their effort for making such launching possible.

A five member committee to handle the affairs of the educational fund headed by the Brofisasehene of Piase was inaugurated by Mr. Bright Addae Mununkum, the District Chief Executive officer for the Bosumtwe Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region. In his speech, he commended the donor; Mr. Atta Fosu for his vision and his love to donate the seed money for the take off of such an educational fund. He therefore appealed to Piase citizens and friends of Piase both at home and abroad to emulate the example of Mr. Atta Fosu and donate to support the fund for its sustenance. He charged the committee members to be fair in arriving at decision as to who actually qualifies for the educational fund. In appeal for funds, he and the MP for the area donated an amount of 1 million cedis towards the fund.

There were other donations from those present including Mr. Kwabena Agyapong, popularly known as Mr. Kwasi Kokoo, a businessman from Piase who donated an amount of 5 million cedis. In all, an amount of over 19 million was donated during the appeal for funds. Earlier the Assemblyman for Piase/Adwinasi, Mr. Appiagyei who is also the Head teacher of Piase, traced the history of education in the town. He said it was a dream comes through to have such funds coming in to help alleviate the suffering of education in the town. Among those present at the launching were Mr. Sarkodei, the representative of the District Education officer, chief and elders as well as the school children of Piase.

The program was extensively covered by Joy/Luv FM, Fox FM and Garden city radio. In an interview later with Joy/Luv FM, Mr. Atta Fosu promised to continue to donate towards the fund on regular basis and also appealed to citizens, well wishers and friends of Piase both at home and abroad to support the fund by donating towards it.
