Nduom honors promise to KEEA Assembly

Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, Founder and 2012 flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has presented a cheque for 20,000 Ghana cedis to the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Assembly to help address sanitation challenges.

The donation was in fulfillment of a pledge he made at the second General Assembly Meeting held earlier this year.

Mr. Victor Opoku Minta, General Manager of Coconut Grove Beach Resort who led a delegation of managers from Groupe Ndoum (GN) to present the amount on Monday at Elmina, said the donation was part of Dr. Nduom’s efforts to help in the develop of the municipality.

He said Dr. Nduom had decided to reconstruct the Elmina Castle/Esaaman junction road, which in a deplorable state, to give the castle the image that it deserves and increase tourism.

Mr Minta appealed to all citizens of Elmina and its environs to take part in sanitation exercises organised by the assembly and the government, adding that it was the only thing the assembly could do to prevent outbreak of diseases.

Mr. Isaac Kwaku Sam, the Municipal Chief Executive of the KEEA who received the cheque, expressed gratitude to Dr. Nduom for honouring his promise, adding that the assembly cherished his spirit of initiative.

He said what Dr. Nduom had done was a clear indication of his willingness to help the assembly and called on all well-endowed citizens of the municipality to emulate his spirit of commitment.

Mr. Sam described Dr. Nduom as someone who was concerned with the welfare of the municipality, right from the time when he, Dr. Ndoum was just an assembly member, and that the donation was in continuation of his zeal for development.

He said part of the money would be used to rehabilitate the septic dislodging trucks and the refuse collecting trucks that had been abandoned for years.

Mr. Sam stated that clean up equipment such as wheel barrows, shovels, rakes and safety boots would also be purchased to be used during clean up exercises.
