New Edubiase hit by water crisis

New Edubiase (Ash.), April 27, GNA - Residents of New Edubiase in the Adansi South District have expressed worry about what they say is the worsening water situation in the town.

They said for about six months now, water flow through the taps had been most irregular and blamed this on the breakdown of a Water Reservoir installed by the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).

Chief Baba Abdulai, Deputy Head of the New Edubiase Zongo Community, said some workers were threatening to leave the place due to the present water crisis in the town.

He therefore called on the management of the GWCL to move quickly to get the problem fixed and bring some relief to the people. Chief Abdulai criticised the Company for what he described as its "seeming insensitivity" saying, "it is unfortunate that the GWCL appears not to appreciate the extent of the problem and is therefore not in any hurry to get it solved".

He warned that the people particularly the youth would be forced to take to the streets to protest against what was happening if the Company did not act to get water supply to the area improved.

Mr Richard Effeh, the GWCL Operations Manager for the area, could not be contacted for an explanation on efforts the Company was making to solve the water problem as he was said to be attending a workshop.
