New York University Students Donate to Upper East Flood Victims

China (UE), April 26, GNA- Some Students of the New York University working on a field programme in the country have donated food relief items including quantities of bags of rice, mellow, sugar, fry-toll oil, milk, tins of tomatoes and crates of sardines all worth 500 dollars to 30 flood victims in China in the newly created Kassena West District in the Upper East Region.

Presenting the items, Father David Azupogo in-charge of Emergency Relief of the Navrongo -Bolgatanga Diocese of the Catholic Church said the students, numbering up to 38 who were on their practical field work in the China community were touched by the plight of the flood victims and decided to contribute their widows' mite to the victims.

He indicated that the students had pledged to contribute more support to the victims in due course.

Father Azupogo stressed the need for more help for the flood victims, adding that there were still more of the victims who were suffering and needed more help.

In another development, the Parish Priest in-charge of the China Parish, Father Paul Kapochina also made a personal donation of two bags of groundnuts to the victims.

Madam Asoebe Achimpwa, the leader of the beneficiaries thanked the students and the Parish Priest for the donation and said it would help them and reiterated the need for others to also support since many of the flood victims were still in need of assistance.
