A three-storey administrative block funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GET-Fund) at the cost of about GH¢646,485.95 has been completed for the Nkoranza Senior High School (SHS) in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
The block contains 27 offices, conference rooms and places of convenience.
An Accra-based construction company, JING Company Limited, executed the project whilst Add Design Group Limited, a construction firm at Ahodwo in Kumasi offered the consultancy services.
Mr. Ebenezer Amoah, Nkoranza South District Assembly Planning Officer, who handed over the project to the management of the school on Friday, was appreciative of the hard-work and efforts of the contractor, Mr. Joe Syme, for completing the project on schedule.
He stated that the contractor spent 18 months on the project, which was started in December 2010.
The district planning officer asked the authorities of the school to report any defects on the project to the contractor for correction “before the Assembly takes over the project in December, 2012”.
The Headmistress of the school, Nana Emelia Fosu Rachel, who received the keys of the building, commended the Government for funding a number of development projects in the school.
Nana Rachel gave the assurance that the staff and students would handle the facility properly to enhance its longer lifespan. She conceded that the furnishing of the offices would be a big challenge for the school and appealed to the Nkoranza South District Assembly, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and philanthropists, to assist the school to furnish the new administration block.
Mr. Eric Adu Nyamekye, District Assembly Engineer, advised management of the school to arrange with the Department of Parks and Gardens, to plant grass and flower trees in front of the building to beautify the environment.**
