The Africa Scout Regional Office (West Africa Operations - Director), Lamine Diawara mandated the National Executive Committee headed by the Chief Commissioner to work on a constitution based on the accepted one by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement due to changes in the movement. A Constitution Committee was set up which was made up of all Regional Commissioners and National Executive Committee members who met at Sakyikrom (National Training Centre) and Kumasi (Ashanti Regional Scout Council) to discuss, study and put together the proposed new constitution.
The proposed Constitution and a Youth Programme was accepted by the National Scout Council at an Annual General Meeting on 20th May 2006 at the National headquarters. The National Executive Committee was mandated to forward it to the Constitutions Committee of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement. The constitution was approved on the 10th January, 2008 by the Constitution Committee of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement.
Presently, copies of this constitution are at the printing press which upon completion, sample would be sent to all Regional Scout Council and the rest sold at the approved regional centres.
The Ghana Scout Association is extremely grateful to the World Organisation of the Scout Movement as it becomes a significant step at the beginning of a new century of Scouting.
