New office complex for UCC Commercial Bank Opens

Cape Coast, Oct 03, GNA - A multi-million office complex for the University of Cape Coast branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank was on Monday inaugurated by Nana Ato Arthur, the Deputy Central Regional Minister.

The facility, located at the UCC new site, has a spacious banking hall with five cages, offices and washrooms. Nana Ato Arthur commended the bank for its contribution to the socio-economic development of the region.

He mentioned some of the institutions and organisations that the bank has been helping in the region as the Cape Coast School for the Deaf, Mfantsiman District Assembly, the Oguaa Traditional Council and support towards the construction of residential accommodation for the police.

Mr Martin Mensah, the Deputy Managing Director (Finance) of the bank, said the building was to ease congestion at the bank's other building at the university's old site and that it has also been hooked unto the bank's network for efficient services to customers. He said a total of 58 branches including 10 in the Cape Coast area have been networked and that 21 more branches would be hooked by the end of the year.

Mrs Joyce Atta-Krah, the Cape Coast Area Manager, thanked the university authorities for accommodating the bank on their premises for 38 years and said the new environment would enhance the quality of the bank's service delivery.

Rev Prof Adow Obeng, the Vice Chancellor of UCC, commended the bank and expressed the hope that it would make huge profit to pay dividends to the university.

Mr Kojo Mensah, a board member of the bank who presided, said the bank would tar the access road to the bank. Present at the ceremony was Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Omanhene of the Oguaa Traditional Area. 03 Oct 05
