New set take over Bawku Central Constituency of NDC

A new set of Constituency Executives have been elected to man the affairs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party in the Bawku Central Constituency.

All the old executives of the Party lost in a poll that has been described by some Party faithful as an overhaul to streamline the Party structure and strengthen it to maintain the seat in the next election.

About 1,109 delegates from 120 polling stations in 20 electoral areas at the weekend cast their votes in Bawku to elect candidates from 58 contestants to lead the Party in the Constituency.

The election was a nationwide activity by the National Democratic Congress Party to select effective Party Constituency Executives to prepare the Party towards the 2020 general elections.

Four persons contested the Chairmanship position which was won by Mr Mohammed Ndego Awindago with 615 votes. Four contested the Secretary Position and it was won by Mr Amadu Issaka Wabugu Karim, who polled 291. For the Women Organizer race, six women contested and Madam Salamatu Lawal polled 51 votes to win.

Madam Abdul Rhaman Fusiena polled 78 votes to take the Deputy Women Organizer position, while the Deputy Youth Organizer went to Mr Abubakar Rauf Tangnaba who polled 77 votes.

The others are Youth Organizer, Mr Yussif Gariba who got 42 votes after contesting five other aspirants. The Zongo Caucus position went to Mr Saeed Hashimiu Bagaya who polled 505 votes.

The Deputy Secretary position was contested by two people and Mr Osman Rhaman Abugrago pulled 746 to win the position, while the Constituency Organizer was contested by five people and Mr Ben Abass Awuni pulled 305 to become the new office. Deputy Organizer was contested by four people and Asaana Salifu pulled 380 to win.

The rest are Deputy Treasurer, Mr Asaana Salifu Abu, 667 votes, Constituency Treasurer, Mr Solomon Ayaan, polled 443 votes, the Vice Chairman position was won by Mr Mohammed Kuzutu, who polled 581 votes.

The Deputy Communication Officer went to Mr Abubarkar Sule Wadata, he won the polls with 585, while the Communication Officer position went to Mr Yussif Otumba. He polled 674 votes.

Mr Mohammed Ndego Awindago, Chairman-elect who spoke on behalf of the new executives after they were sworn into office, gave the assurance that he and his team would operate an open door administration to allow the participation of members from the grassroots in the decision-making process.

He called on Party members and other contestants who had lost in the election to rally behind the newly elected ones to achieve their core mandate of managing the Party in the Constituency.
