The 2017/18 batch of newly trained teachers in the Eastern Region have taken to the streets of Koforidua, the regional capital to kick against government decision to commence the licensure examination for teacher trainees this year.

The protestors who wore headgears and red armed bands marched through the principal streets amidst brass band music.

They held placards with several inscriptions including "suspend license exams now, we will never write the license exams, Akufo Addo has deceived us" among others.

Regional coordinator of the newly trained teachers Agyepong Nelson claim they have not been given any orientation to prepare them for the task ahead.

Again, they claim the policy should not start with their batch but new entrants because, the documentation covering the policy affects their juniors who will be taking the 4 year bachelor of education program.

" The policy does not capture we newly trained, e must be exempted. Even if they want to start with us we should be given some orientation or booklets to abreast ourselves with what we are going to do". He lamented.

The protest was taken to the regional education office where they presented a petition to the regional education director, Monica Ankrah.
