Nine schools under- trees projects completed in Hohoe Municipal

A total of nine six-unit classroom blocks under the Schools’ under trees and emergency programmes has been completed and handed over for use in the Hohoe Municipality.

The beneficiaries are; Ando No. One Primary, Gbledi Primary, Hoeme-Agbome, Hohoe Municipal Experimental, Have, Kpeve-Tornu, SantrokofiBume, Likpe Mate RC Kindergarten and Primary Schools.

Dr Mrs Margaret Kweku, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), disclosed this at an Assembly Meeting on Thursday.

She said the Assembly had distributed 1,000 dual desks procured from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) to equip the classrooms in the Municipality for serious academic work.

Dr Kweku said, 2,850 free school uniforms were again distributed among school pupils to encourage them to be retained in school.

She said 76 motor bikes were received from the government for distribution among Assembly-members to facilitate their mobility.

On roads, she said plans are advanced to reshape the Hohoe- AkpafuOdomi, Hohoe-AkpafuMempeasem, Hohoe-Adabraka-Matvin, and part of Blave roads.

The MCE indicated that feeder roads being considered for improvement include; Lolobi Kumasi-Likpe-Agbozume-Likpe mate link road, Likpe- Agbozume-Likpe-Koforidua-Likpe-Abrani and Akpafu-Sokpo-Akpafu-Adorkor-Ayoma road networks.

Dr Kweku stated further that, traffic lights would be provided on some road intersections in the Municipality including the Hohoe main market junction, Post Office, Bank of Ghana-Jasikan road junction, Backlays Bank-Zongo/Santrokofi Station junction sections.

She said budget estimates have been submitted to relevant institutions for their study.

Additionally, monies totaling GH¢95,000 from the Special Need Intervention from the Reserve Common Fund, would be accessed to drill 10 boreholes at designated areas in the Municipality including Leklebi Duga SHS, FodomeHelu Health centre and Hohoe Municipal Hospital.

The MCE said the Assembly was working assiduously to secure funding for the rehabilitation of 90 broken-down boreholes in the area, to boost water availability for the people.

She announced that, the Assembly’s fourth quarter of the 2011 district assemblies common fund totaling GH¢256,184 after statutory deductions have been received.

Dr Kweku appealed to residents who are 18 and more to register in the on-going biometric registration exercise to make them eligible to vote in the impending general elections slated for December.**
