Asamang (Ash), June 17, GNA - Ninety-five percent of projects earmarked for implementation under the education component of the Promoting Partnership with Traditional Authorities Project (PPTAP) in the 40 beneficiary communities in the Ashanti Region have been

completed. Mr Johnson Osei-Hwedieh, the Project Manager of the PPTAP, said the completed projects under the education component included school buildings, libraries, teachers' bungalows, boreholes and toilet facilities. The PPTAP, collaboration between the World Bank, the government and the Asanteman Council, was initiated in 2003 to assist traditional rulers to bring socio-economic development to their areas.

The Project Manager said under the health component of the project, two main consultancies had already been awarded on contract. These are training in basic health and HIV/AIDS, and the compilation of community registers. "It is also the plan and hope of the PPTAP that before the end of June contract for the consultancy services for HIV/AIDS sensitisation programme for the 40 pilot communities would have been awarded," Mr Osei-Hwedieh said.
