Nkawkaw records 107 accidents in first half

The Nkawkaw Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), of Ghana Police Service, recorded 107 road crashes out of which 78 were fatal during the first half of the year.

In all 21 deaths were recorded involving 15 males and six females with pedestrian accidents totalling 17.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Albert Deletsa, Divisional MTTU Commander, made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Nkawkaw in Eastern Region.

He said most of the road crashes were caused by human error. He advised drivers to avoid overloading, speeding and unnecessary overtaking to reduce the high rate of road crashes.

DSP Deletsa asked the drivers to ensure regular maintenance of their vehicles, to avoid road crashes, loss of lives and property.
