Nkoranza (B/A) March 21, GNA - About 407 untrained teachers in the Nkoranza District of Brong Ahafo have registered with the Untrained Teacher Training in Diploma in Basic Education programme to upgrade themselves to become professional teachers.

Mr Kwabena Agyemang Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education announced this at a meeting with the teachers at Nkoranza on Wednesday to discuss challenges facing them and to find solutions to enable them to complete the course successfully.

The teachers are undertaking the course at the Mampong Teachers' Technical Training College in the Ashanti Region. Mr Agyemang-Badu commended the teachers for taking part in the Programme, which he said would enable them to improve their teaching methodologies and offer them job security.

The District Director expressed gratitude to the government for introducing the programme to prepare more teachers to offer quality services, especially the rural communities.

Mr Kwaku Amoah-Tutu, Assistant Director in-charge of the Inspectorate Division urged the participants to attach great importance to the course and to be very regular at classes. He called on head teachers of basic schools to hold regular in-service training courses for their teachers to make them understand the contents of the programme.

Mr Adjei Yeboah, Presiding Member of Nkoranza District Assembly and District Education Coordinator in-charge of Basic Schools announced that the Assembly was planning to support the trainees. He advised them to exchange ideas, as that would enable them to understand and address challenges that would face them in the course of their training.
