Some Concerned Youth of Nkwabeng North in the Sunyani Municipality, are protesting against the bad nature of roads, bad street lightening system and the inadequate drainage system in the area.

They say countless appeals to concerned Authorities, which elicited numerous promises from politicians have seen no improvement.

According to them the situation, along with lack of vital social amenities in the area has made life unbearable especially with the onset of the rains.

They are therefore appealing for urgent help or else they would be compelled to resort to other measures.

These came up when GBC’s Radio Ghana interacted with some Youth in Nkwabeng North in Sunyani.

Nkwabeng North is a suburb of Sunyani which for ages has had challenges with roads, drainage system and street lighting. It is, therefore, no surprise that some concerned youth of the area are expressing worry.

Of particular concern is the main road that connects Nkwabeng North to Odumase in the Sunyani West District and the drain that connects the area to the Bono Regional Hospital in Sunyani.

One of the Youth, Eric Amankwah said the situations in the area is worsening by the day.

They continued that the road is having a negative effect on vehicles and has health implications as well.

The youth expressed their disappointment with politicians who promise heaven during campaigns and renege on the promises after winning power. They appealed to the government to come to their aid as soon as possible, stressing that they would be compelled to resort to other measures if help is not forthcoming.

When contacted, the Assembly man of Nkwabeng North, Dominic Adu Gyimah, explained that, the Bono Regional Minister Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson and the MP for the area have promised to put them on the Synohydro roads project.

He further said the streets lights in the area will be fixed by the Sunyani Municipal Assembly.

The Assembly Man appealed to residents in the area to exercise restraint, while the government takes steps to fix the road among other planned developmental projects for the area.
