About 20 senior and junior secondary schools in the Nkwanta District of the Volta Region are to close down by the end of this month if the water situation does not improve.
This follows the drying up of the natural sources of water supply in the District.
Mr. Ben Adjorlolo, Nkwanta District Co-ordinating Director, who announced this at sibi when a technical team of the Community Water Sanitation Agency (CWSA) visited the District on a fact-finding mission, said, ?until the rains set in, the schools will remain closed.?
He also said the situation had disrupted academic work and crippled economic activities until the rains set in and appealed to the CWSA to expedite action on drilling boreholes in endemic areas of the District.
