Management of Mamo’s hotel at Ahodwo within the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi has denied encouraging minors engaging in commercial sex trade at their facility.
Mamo’s hotel was among some five hospitality facilities shutdown over the weekend in the region by the ministry of Tourism’s levy collection taskforce team for defaulting in the payment of tourism levy and operating illegally.
According to the administrator of tourism development fund Abraham Tetteh, uniformed pupils of some basic schools within the area were caught engaging in hot sexual bouts at the facility at the time of their arrival.
But management of Mamo’s hotel indicate that their facility was accidentally closed down and also rubbished reports that students were caught engaging in commercial sex trade at the time the levy collection team arrived at the facility.
Ultimate FM’s further checks uncovered that, it was rather an illegal hotel at Boadi Junction which was rather closed down by the tourism levy collection taskforce.
Ashanti regional manager of the Ghana Tourism authority Ekow Sampson has however apologized to the hotel for the error committed in the earlier interview with Ultimate News by Abraham Tetteh administrator of tourism development found.
