Miss Tetteh emerged the overall best teacher during the school’s maiden Speech and Prize Giving Day held on June 28, 2018; celebrated under the theme “Promoting Academic Excellence through Holistic Education.”
She was chosen, among other things, based on her innovative approach to teaching, teacher – student relationship, and punctuality.
Dr Adu Boateng, CEO of End Point Homeopathetic Clinic and one of the directors of the school who was at the event presented Sussana with a commemorative certificate of excellence, a fridge and a citation of achievement.
According to him, Sussana is a rare teacher who understands that beyond delivery of disciplinary content, it is equally important to understand the abilities of each student.
He further stated that Miss Tetteh creates unique opportunities for learning, exhibits discipline and punctuality towards work and puts up good behaviour.
“She is a teacher who is easily approachable and relates well with pupils and teachers with compassion and inclusiveness. She is able to fully engage students to learn effectively. She has a personal connection with the students which sets her apart as a teacher; and relates to them as a mentor, moulding the behaviour she wants to see in them,” Dr. Boateng stated.
In an interview with the media, Miss Tetteh expressed her profound gratitude to the school for such award. To her, it came as a big surprise.
“I’m overwhelmed, most especially about the scholarship to further my studies. This is going to motivate not just me but the entire staff to put up our very best at all times,” she said.
Miss Tetteh encouraged all teachers globally to keep up the good work they are doing. She therefore advised teachers to always teach with passion and go the extra mile to unravel the unique potentials in the young ones.
She thanked Dr Boateng, Mrs. Bernice Adu Boateng, Manager of N.I.S., and the entire North Hills International School staff for their continuous support.
