Northern Regional Minister accomplishes mission in Iran

The Northern Regional Minister has successfully led a delegation to Iran where they met and wooed Iranian investors into coming to invest in the Northern part of Ghana towards the development of the country at large.

The regional minister and his entourage made up of politicians and businessmen were given a warm welcome by their Iranian counterparts in a business meeting which deliberations bothered on the development of Agriculture, health, pharmaceutical and trade.

The fruitful discussions with the deputy Iranian Agricultural minister offered much confidence to the Iranian government and its business enterprises as well as investors who have responded positively hence promised with much enthusiasm to be in Northern region within the shortest possible time to explore the available investment opportunities in the northern region.

Speaking to the Iranian people, the minister taunted the potential of Northern region especially in areas like Agriculture and good labor force. He said the Northern region apart from controlling big land mass was also strategically located serving as a link to four other regions in Ghana and other Sahelian countries like Burkina, Mali, Niger and Togo.

He appeal to the Iranian to spec up the follow up process since the year was declared as action year by the Akufo-Addo led NPP government.

The Northern Regional minister thanked the Iranians for the swift response to some of his request and lauded them for their role in diplomatic issue and the confidence they have in Ghana's economy.

Hon. Sailfu Saeed commended Dr Nasrollaahi Maleki, the Iranian Ambasador to Ghana and the host ministers for the gesture and assured them of positive respond in the bilateral trade between the two nations.

He also assured them of the president Akufo-Addo’s commitment in Public Private Partnerships (PPP) since it was the way forward to achieving the president agenda of Ghana beyond aid.

The Regional minister was accompanied by the Ghana Ambasador to Iran. Alhaji sayuti Yahaya Iddi, the Savelegu MCE- Hajia Ayisha Seidu, Mion DCE- Mohammed Hashim, and Salaga North MCE-Mohammed Tamim.

The rest are the CEO of Simdi Allies, Alhaji Ahmed Badawi, and Mr Issah Abdul Nasir the focal person of the program also doubling as the communication Director of the delegation.

Bilateral relationships between two countries dates back in the 50’s. The visit was accompanied with positive sign of commitments to reinvigorate mutual cooperation between Iran -Northern region and Ghana at a large.

The meeting yielded positive results among which, the Iranian Agricultural ministry reiterated their readiness to reactivate the defunct Agricultural for Rural Development project, established in Ghana about 4 decades ago.

Scholarships for study in medicine and other disciplines were matters of immediate consideration.
