Northerners in Akwapim South forms umbrella union

Nsawam, July 21, GNA - Citizens from the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions, who are residing in the Akwapim South District of the Eastern Region, have formed an umbrella association to protect their cultural heritage.

Naa John Naeroh, Chairman of the Union, said at the inauguration ceremony at Nsawam, that there was the need for members to strengthen their common bond.

He asked them to maintain the proverbial northern hospitality and discipline.

Naa Naeroh said the Union would promote co-existence among members and facilitate development projects at home.

Mr Andrew Nyarko Adu, the District Chief Executive, who was the Guest of Honour, asked members of the Union to unite and assist in efforts to find lasting solution to the Dagbon crisis. He also advised them to be law abiding and ensure that the 2004 General Election is peaceful.
