The Assembly member for the Gubre Electoral Area at Odumase in the Sunyani West District, Hon. Evelyn Adarkwa Fremah, is establishing a ¢5 billion Nursing Training College at Kwatiri at Odumase.
The college would be known as St. Declan Nursing Training College and forms part of the St. Declans Schools owned by Hon. Fremah.
Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony to commence work on the project, Hon. Fremah said the 200 capacity first private nursing training college in the district is expected to be completed within two years.
Hon Fremah said the nursing college would enable many people realize their dreams of becoming health professionals and contribute to national development.
"There are many young people in the region who would wish to become health professionals and it is my believe that this nursing college would assist such people realise their dreams", she said.
She also said the college is her contribution to quality health delivery in the region and urged stakeholders to support the project. "As a citizen of the region I believe this is what I can do to support quality healthcare delivery and I appeal for total support to make this project a success", she said.
Hon Fremah was one of the candidates who withdrew from the Sunyani West NPP parliamentary race in support of the eventual winner, Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the Brong-Ahafo regional minister.
She later declared her intentions to contest the seat as an independent candidate citing unfulfilled promise as well as being neglected from campaign activities by the party.
