Kumasi, May 15, GNA - The Nwabiagya Rural Bank has donated two 21-inch colour television sets worth GH¢550 to the Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES). It was in response to an appeal made to the bank towards the 2009 Ashanti Region Best Teachers Awards to be held in Kumasi. Mr Samuel Nuamah Dankwa, Supervising Manager of the Bank, who made the presentation on behalf of the board of directors in Kumasi on Thursday, said, the gesture was the bank's contribution towards the improvement of teaching and learning in the region.

He said the Bank has made similar donations to district education directorates within its catchment area to promote quality education delivery.

In addition, Mr. Nuamah Dankwa said, the bank has supported community-initiated programmes with either cash or building materials. He said teachers who were the major customers of the Bank also benefit immensely from the bank's prompt and reliable personal loans and other facilities.

Mr Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, Ashanti Regional Director of Education who received the items on behalf of the directorate expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the bank.

He commended the bank for its immense contribution to the development of education in the Region and called on other organisations to emulate them. Mr Onyinah gave the assurance that the television sets would boost the morale of the beneficiary teachers to enable them work harder.
