Twifo-Praso (C/R), Aug. 15, GNA – The Twifo Hermang Lower Denkyira District Assembly has constructed a six-unit primary school block with toilet facility valued at about GHc149,000 for the Nyame ye Adom community in the Central Region.

Mr Foster Joseph Andoh, District Chief Executive (DCE) told the Ghana News Agency that the facility was as a result of a request by the community for a decent school structure.

He said the facility would also serve as a motivation to children in the area to study hard and for teachers to offer their best.

He said Government had launched the rural incentive for teachers, adding that the District would also re-visit the best teacher award scheme, since it had been dormant for some time now.

Mr Andoh said plans were far advanced for the construction of teachers’ bungalows to accommodate newly posted teachers to the community and urged people in the local community to support teachers posted to the area.

He said the District was supervising a two-story girls’ dormitory block financed by GET-Fund to accommodate 500 students for the Hermang Senior High School to be completed early next year.

“The Assembly is also constructing a six-unit classroom block for the Twifo Mampong Catholic Primary B School,” he added.

Mr Andoh said an additional 18-unit classroom block and a two-story girls’ dormitory was ongoing for the Twifo-Praso Senior High to make education accessible for all.

On child labour, the DCE said it was becoming a global issue which needed more attention, adding that the menace hindered child development and called on all stakeholders to rally their strength to fight the practice.

On economic activities, Mr Andoh said the District had been blessed with the largest palm plantation in the Central Region which provided employment opportunities for all.

He urged the youth in the area to invest in agriculture, since it was the backbone of the country’s development.

Mr Kofi Opare, an elder in the Nyame ye Adom community expressed gratitude to Government for the school structure and expressed the hope that the area’s road network would be improved to prevent the situation whereby food stuffs produced in the area got rotten for the lack of easy access to the market centres.

Mr John Otoo, a Junior High School teacher in the school, appealed to Government to support the community with a classroom block and a teacher’s bungalow.
