OMA warns encroachers on school land at Akapoliso

Obuasi, Aug. 28, GNA - The Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA) has warned developers encroaching on the land belonging to the Christ the King Catholic Secondary School at Akapoliso to stop forthwith. Mr Joseph K Boampong, Municipal Chief Executive, who gave the warning, said the entire school land would be fenced and any building that would be enclosed in the fence wall would be deemed to belong to the school without the payment of any compensation. The Municipal Chief Executive who was at Akapoliso as part of his working visits to communities in the Obuasi municipality, said the rate at which people were encroaching on the school land was not the best for the development of education in the area.

He said the growth and development of the school was directly linked to Akapoliso and that it was the community's obligation to assist in the protection of the land for future school projects. Mrs Beatrice Boakye-Ansah Prempeh, Municipal Director of Education, who accompanied Mr Boampong, encouraged school management committees (SMCs) and parent-teacher associations (PTAs) to team up with the school authorities to promote efficiency in schools management. She appealed to parents to ensure that all their children of school-going age were enrolled in school. Mrs Prempeh touched on the capitation grant and school feeding programme and said these interventions ha d helped in the improvement of enrolment levels in the schools.

She said government was committed to the promotion of quality education delivery at all levels and called for stakeholders' support. Mr Isaac Nuamah, Assemblyman for Akapoliso, appealed to the Assembly to re-roof the Pomposo Junior Secondary School and also rehabilitate the local primary school block to help put an end to the shift system in the school.
