The Oborpa Dzekiti Local Authority Primary School in the Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region is to get a 650-million-cedi school complex under the GETfund. The complex to be completed before the end of this year would consist of a six-unit classroom block, an office, a library, a store and a place of convenience.
The District Chief Executive, Mr. Andrew Teye, speaking at the sod cutting ceremony on Friday, said four similar projects would be completed in the District this year. He said two teachers bungalow containing four apartments each had already been constructed at Sutapon and Akaten in the area while the District Assembly had allocated 500 million cedis to construct a six-unit classroom block at Amedeka and an Abattoir at Kpone Another 500 million cedis would be used for toilet projects at Kpone, Sekesua and Akate.
The DCE assured the people of the Government's commitment to ensure educational development in the area and advised them to encourage their children to go to school.
Mr. Teye later presented a gari-processing machine donated by the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs to the women of the community. The Area Council Chairman, Mr. Samuel M. Opata, commended the Government for its efforts to encourage education and pledged the community's support to ensure the success of the project.
