Obuasi municipal chief executive clears the air

The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi,Hon Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi on Tuesday,23rd February, 2016 seized an opportunity to clear the air on an allegation making rounds about having a stake in the Horssey Park Lorry Terminal .

The visibly disappointed M.C.E who vehemently refuted the allegation during a meeting with officials of Ghana Roads Transport Union, Obuasi Municipal Assembly and the Municipal Security Council after the the transport Union presented a petition to the Ghana Police Service following what they say is their displeasure in the operations of the Horssey Park Lorry Terminal under the management of Oracle Business Limited owned by one Emmanuel Ofori Amoabeng.

Hon. Ofori Agyeman said,his major concern was to ensure the much anticipated Horssey Park Lorry Terminal see the light of day which has been achieved.Hence,he has no stake nor shares in the company that operates the terminal and appealed to those perpetuating such falsehood to put it to bed.

He further appealed to the executives of G.R.T.U to use negotiations like this other than demonstrations as was earlier planned by G.P.R.T.U as the more prudent means to resolve the ongoing impasse with Oracle Business Limited.

The MCE for Obuasi in addressing some of their petitions said the Municipal Assembly in its bid to ensure competition in the transport business and to promote business generally in the Municipality, has opened it doors for VIP Transport Services to commence operations in the Municipality.

After several deliberations,it was resoved that;

1.The VIP Transport Services will start operations in the Municipality.

2.Only G.P.R.T.U operates on the terminal and that they are to pay an addittional amount as goodwill on the other extention they have not paid.

3.The executives of G.P.R.T.U has up to two(2) weeks to sign the contract which has long been presented to them by Oracle Business Limited.

Members of the Municipal Security Committee,Executives of G.P.R.T.U,officers of the Municipal Assembly and the press were all present.
