Obuasi, June 25, GNA - Obuasi, one of the country's new municipality that rose to ecstatic joy when Ghana beat the USA 2-1 to qualify to the next stage of the ongoing World Cup in Germany, is confident that the Black Stars will triumph over much fancied Brazil.
A number of people who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Sports at Obuasi expressed the hope and confidence that Ghana was capable of beating the world's soccer champions.
Mr Edward Mensah, the Paymaster of Mining Building Construction (MBC) minced no words when he said: "we are still celebrating Ghana's victory and our qualification to the one-sixteenth. We are praying that we get to the finals. We are going to beat Brazil 2-1 to qualify and after that we go on to win the ultimate".
Mr. Bernard Amoakoh, Araba Afram Marketing Service personnel said the way Ghanaians had put pressure on the Lord Jesus, He had no way than to let the Black Stars win against the Brazilians. Richard Aheto, the Founder of Mensuro Fun Club also shared the same view, saying he is very certain that the Black Stars would triumph over the dreaded Brazilians. "The only handicap is Essien, who is at the top of his form but not playing on that day. But with Mutari and the rest now joining the team, Ghana can play with Brazil", Nana Asirifi Asare II, the Adomanuhene and Presiding Member of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly said. On his part, Mr Francis Boatey Quao, the Chairman of the Finance and Administration sub-committee of the Municipal Assembly said the players should see to it that the ball did not get to Ronaldo, Ronaldihno and Caca.
"The players should see to it that Ronaldo, Ronaldihno and Caca are prevented from holding the ball. The Coach should assign players for them", he said.
Akosua Gyamfuah, a server at 'White House', one of the municipality's favourite drinking spot said the 3-1 prediction on the GTV by a fan will come true. "This is what my faith tells me." She continued, adding, "we beat the US 2-1 and that the Brazilians will go home with a 3-1 defeat."
Adwoa, a popular tea seller at the Main Obuasi lorry station observed that "the Brazilians are a good side, what we need to do was to pray." But she was quick to add that should the Black Stars play with the same spirit that they played with the Czech Republic, Ghana can win".
C.K. Gyamfi, Obuasi's Chief Newspaper Vendor was emphatic that Ghana would win 2-1, despite the fact that people had rated Brazil very high. "We will lead 2-0 before they will pull one back, whether Essien is playing or not".
He however added that Ghana have to pray very hard because prayers can conquer everything. 25 June 06
