Odubi Presby School receives aid from a native philanthropist abroad

A philanthropist of the Asante Akyem Odubi, based in the United States of America, Mr Philip Akwasi Mensah has presented two modern photocopier machines to the Odubi Presbyterian Basic School in the Asante Akyem South District of the Ashanti Region to enable the school administration carry out all official duties with ease and also help enhance teaching and learning in the school.

Receiving the items on behalf of the, Mr Bandzi Innocent the Headmaster of the school, reiterated the many needs of the school such as computers to teach ICT and other necessary teaching and learning materials.

He also called on Churches, individuals, Islamic Organizations businessmen and women and all well-meaning citizens to come to the aid of the School.

He, however, showered praise and was all thankful to Nana Ofosu Ababio Obrempong II, Chief of Odubi community and his elders as well as Mr Philip Akwasi Mensah for their kind gesture.

On his part, Nana Ofosu Ababio Obrempong II, Chief of the Odubi community, indicated that Mr Mensah decided to support the school which he attended when he was a young boy in the community and therefore has presented the two photocopier machines to the school, hence the presentation.

He further mentioned that the Presbyterian school was built some hundreds years back and it's almost on the verge of collapsing.

Nana Ofosu Ababio also stated that, "It is unfortunate that the new equipment will have to be kept in the old and almost collapsing office of the school".

He has therefore called on the District Chief Executive for Asante Akyem South District Assembly, Hon Alexander Frimpong to as a matter of urgency build the old dilapidated school afresh in order to improve upon teaching and learning in the school.

The Chief again noted that, there's a general lack schools in the Odubi community, a situation that has necessitated sometimes the running of morning and afternoon shifts for school children in the area.

Nana Ofosu Ababio Obrempong II, further indicated that the morning and afternoon school system does not enhance good teaching and learning in the school and has therefore called on the Assembly to expedite actions to provide modern schools for the children of the community.

He, however, on behalf of the entire community called on the blessings of God and ancestors of the Odubi community for Mr Philip Akwasi Mensah for his kind gesture and like Oliver Twist asked for many other assistance.
